Galloways Presentation |
At a very special meeting to celebrate 50 years of distinguished service to the Mark Degree, W.Bro. Barry Wright, P.G.St.B., was presented with a cheque for £600 in favour of Galloways Society for the Blind. |
The charity was nominated by Barry in recognition of the support received by his two grandchildren, who are visually impaired. |
The cheque was presented to Charlotte Carnell, Event Organiser / Fund Raiser |
and James Coulton, Studio Manager |
Barry, Stuart Cowburn and I recently enjoyed a truly inspiring and heart-warming afternoon at their headquarters in Penwortham. |
The donation will enable them to purchase new USB sticks, CD’s and Wallets to support current and new users of their ‘Talking Newspaper’. |
We were told that this offers at least 250 blind/partially sighted people a key link to the outside world, helping to reduce the social isolation that often accompanies sight loss. |
We enjoyed a tour of the recording, editing studio and the copying & distribution centre |
Volunteers recite and record news from dozens of publications onto the CD’s and USB memory sticks, which are distributed to homes throughout Lancashire. |
Charlotte and James expressed their heartfelt thanks on behalf of all those who will benefit from the donation. |
